Evolution5 Wins Constructing Excellence Award for Leadership and People Development

Building consultancy Evolution5 has won a Constructing Excellence Award for Leadership and People Development.  The award for the London and South East region was presented at a ceremony attended by over 540 construction industry professionals.

The Constructing Excellence Awards focus attention on some of the most important issues faced by the industry. They recognise the very best companies, collaborations and projects - sharing best practice and inspiring others to adopt new and better ways of working that deliver outstanding results. The awards give prominence to a broad range of exceptional organisations aspiring to take performance to new levels.

Evolution5 won the award in recognition of its commitment to consistently going above and beyond to recruit, retain and develop the most talented individuals in its sector. The consultancy's leadership development and training initiatives are unprecedented for the size of the organisation.

According to the judges, "We were really impressed by the high level of training and staff development delivered by Evolution5. Despite limited resources, they have provided committed leadership and are re-investing to further develop their team and the business."

"Their approach is flexible, responsive and innovative and they have demonstrated their willingness to sharing knowledge and lessons learned."

Commenting on the award, Jamie Barrett, Managing Director of Evolution5 said, "We are absolutely delighted to have our achievements recognised by this important industry award and particularly for an SME of our size. It is such a credit to our team and our ethos."

"All our training and development initiatives help us meet our business aspirations - providing fulfilling roles for our colleagues, outstanding services for our clients and most importantly, to contributing to better practices and constructing excellence across the industry."

"We - and other organisations in our sector - also have a vital role to play in attracting more young people into the fantastic construction industry. Skills shortages in the building professions are a huge and growing issue, and we are doing everything we can to address this."

The Hampshire-based building consultancy, which offers construction management, project management and cost consultancy services, was established in 2007 at the start of the deepest recession in recent history. Its drive for continuous improvement has resulted in year-on-year turnover growth which now stands at 970 per cent with customer satisfaction scores of 100 per cent in the last year and 99.4 per cent in the past seven years.

The company's initiatives include apprenticeships, graduate training, engagement with school children and students to encourage new talent to work in construction, staff training and development programmes, and voluntary roles held in professional bodies such as the CIOB and RICS.

The company also recognises the role it has to play in the community, and encourages and supports staff to take on voluntary roles and to raise money for local charities - skydiving to raise money for disabled children and their families; sponsorship projects with local schools and sports teams; the donation of sports and play equipment to local schools; and sponsorship of local culture in Hampshire.
