Portakabin Launches New Range of Exterior and Amenity Options for Interim Office Buildings
Portakabin, the UK's leading modular building specialist, has launched a new range of exterior options and outdoor amenities to help integrate and equip interim facilities and provide a complete, ready-to-use working environment.
Modular buildings available for hire can now be supplied with an even wider range of architectural options and essential amenities. Each option complies fully with British Standards, such as wind and snow loadings. Sourced and installed by Portakabin, the new range is designed to give interim buildings a more permanent feel. It includes:
- Canopies and shelters. Cantilevered structures or canopies supported by posts can enhance the entrance to a building and give it more architectural appeal. They can also allow better use of under-utilised outdoor spaces, creating sheltered waiting, social, seating and play areas.
- Covered walkways. A striking addition to any scheme, covered walkways are a practical solution to link an interim building with other facilities on the site and provide shelter from the elements. The roofs of walkways can be curved, high barrel, low barrel or flat.
- Vinyl wraps. These low maintenance finishes, which are simple to install and remove, can be applied to the exterior of a building to totally transform its appearance. Strong corporate branding, company logos and eye-catching graphics designed for maximum impact can turn a building into a valuable marketing asset. Murals and more subtle colour schemes can be used to blend an interim facility into its surrounding environment and can help secure planning approval in environmentally sensitive locations.
- Free-standing outdoor structures. Organisations can now extend their interim facilities outside. Robust shelters using a modular framing system and integral water collection will complement any building and create zones for waiting, meeting or socialising. Roofs can be glass, polycarbonate or coloured architectural fabric for even more design flexibility and choice.
- Cycle storage. These structures can encourage more people to cycle to work and can lessen the demand for car parking. They are designed to provide secure, safe and accessible cycle storage that also helps to reduce theft and vandalism.
- Smoking shelters. Organisations can now hire specially designed shelters to provide dedicated areas to control where people smoke, ensuring both compliance with legislation and best practice in health and safety.
- Street furniture. The siting of an interim building can change the flow of traffic and people, leading to additional temporary requirements. In response to this, Portakabin can now provide litter bins, benches, picnic tables, bollards and barriers, delivering a complete solution to the exterior of an interim building.
Commenting on this latest range of options, Robert Snook, Director and General Manager of Portakabin Hire said, "We can now supply and install all the exterior furnishings and amenities that may be needed for an interim building. This highly flexible package of solutions will reduce our customers' time and resources spent sourcing quality products for short-term use, and the options will help to integrate the facility on the site, providing a more attractive and productive place of work."
"We believe there should be no compromise on the quality of the working environment just because the accommodation is not permanent, and this range of solutions reflects that ethos."
Applications for interim modular buildings are diverse and include open plan office accommodation, security buildings, canteens, training suites, teaching blocks, shower and changing rooms, clinics and decant ward buildings.
These facilities can be supplied and installed just days from receipt of order complete with fire and security systems, access ramps and furnishings, and can remain in use for as long as required. Modular accommodation can be easily extended, reconfigured or relocated to meet an organisation's changing needs.
Portakabin has the widest hire network in the UK, with 50 locations from Inverness to Plymouth. It also has the resources to deliver both bespoke projects and standardised accommodation solutions to organisations in public and private sectors, in the most challenging timescales, with less disruption and less impact on the environment.
