Portakabin Publishes Unprecedented Performance Figures

The UK's leading modular building specialist, Portakabin, has released new performance figures which show that it has successfully delivered 99.7 per cent of projects on time and on budget in the past year - and every year since 2003.

This unprecedented performance is in sharp contrast to new construction industry statistics supported by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, which revealed project delays have hit a 10-year low.

The research recently published by Glenigan and Constructing Excellence showed that just 34 per cent of projects were handed over on time - the worst performance since the KPIs began 10 years ago.  Only 58 per cent of projects were delivered on budget. The key performance indicator report was based on surveys and data from construction projects completed in 2011.

In research carried out to measure customer satisfaction, Portakabin was rated at 92 per cent overall for service and build quality, which compares to construction industry figures of 83 per cent for the finished building.

Commenting on the new figures, David Shaw, Director of Portakabin, said, "We believe these results have reinforced our position as the UK's leading modular building supplier. Whether we are supplying accommodation for permanent or interim use, our teams work tremendously hard to ensure we deliver the highest levels of customer service on every project.  We believe our performance over the past 10 years is unprecedented, not just in the modular sector but across the construction industry."

"Our building solutions combine all the advantages of modular building - shorter lead times, and reduced disruption, with the additional benefits of a robust steel-framed construction, more choice, cost efficiency, flexibility and sustainability."

Applications for permanent and interim modular buildings are diverse and include open plan office accommodation, security buildings, canteens, training suites, schools, shower and changing rooms, health clinics and decant ward buildings.

These facilities can be supplied and installed just days from receipt of order complete with fire and security systems, access ramps, claddings and entrance canopies, and can remain in use for as long as required.  Modular accommodation can also be easily extended, reconfigured or relocated to meet an organisation's changing needs.

Portakabin buildings:

  • Can easily accommodate more than 1,000 people
  • Are manufactured to permanent building standards and in line with the latest Building Regulations
  • Can feature floor-to-ceiling glazing to maximise natural light, creating attractive and productive environments
  • Use a technically advanced building system with no internal columns for ease of space planning
  • Are available in single and multi-storey configurations to meet specific project requirements.
